L’ho incrociata mentre attraversava un piazzale spoglio, appena dopo la pioggia, al marché aux puces di Parigi: uno sguardo fiero, intelligente, con il sorriso dentro. Una donna completa.

Sfax, Tunisia, 1978 circa. Per fare i diversi cercavamo un’alternativa a Djerba, già allora troppo turistica, e avevamo scelto Kerkennah, un’isola di cui non sapevamo nulla. In attesa del traghetto, sotto una pensilina in mezzo al nulla, degli uomini accanto a noi si raccontavano storie. Di quelle storie mi sono rimasti i volti.

Sfax, Tunisia, around 1978. To feel a little different, we were looking for an alternative to Djerba, already too touristy back then, and had chosen Kerkennah, an island we knew nothing about. Waiting for the ferry under a shelter in the middle of nowhere, the men beside us were telling each other stories. Of those stories, only the faces stayed with me.

L’Assunzione della Vergine, acquaforte da G.B. Moroni, 1990. Realizzata su richiesta della Parrocchia di Palazzago mentre la pala era in restauro, è stata esposta alla Pinacoteca dell’Accademia Carrara, accanto all’originale, a restauro concluso.
The Assumption of the Virgin, etching after G.B. Moroni, 1990. Made at the request of the Parish of Palazzago while the altarpiece was being restored, it was shown at the Pinacoteca dell’Accademia Carrara beside the original once the restoration was complete.
